Rug Material & Care
Selecting the right material is the first step in finding a rug that harmonizes with your lifestyle. At Kinloft, we celebrate natural fibers for their resilience, tactile warmth, and timeless character.
Materials
Wool
Our hand-knotted and hand-woven collections represent the pinnacle of ancient craftsmanship. Each fiber is chosen for its unique contribution to the rug's narrative and longevity.
Prized for its natural elasticity and soil resistance, our hand-spun wool rugs offer incredible durability and a soft, comfortable underfoot experience.
Silk
Silk brings a luxurious luster and intricate detail to hand-knotted and hand-woven rugs. It reflects light beautifully, making patterns appear more defined and elevated—ideal for formal spaces and low-traffic rooms where you want a refined, elegant feel.
Cotton
Cotton provides a stable foundation for weaving, offering softness underfoot and a relaxed, lived-in feel. It holds color beautifully and is ideal for everyday spaces where comfort and ease of care matter.
Jute
Jute has a relaxed, organic character with a soft, earthy texture underfoot. Its natural golden tones bring warmth to a room and pair beautifully with timber and neutral palettes. Best suited to low–medium traffic spaces, jute rugs add depth and tactility while maintaining an easy, understated look.
Care & Maintenance
Our rugs are crafted from natural fibers and traditional techniques. With simple, consistent care, you can preserve their beauty and extend their life.
- Fiber Protection
• We recommend professional treatments to shield your investment from stains, mildew, and UV fading.
• These specialized coatings are essential for preserving the integrity and longevity of natural fibers.
Vacuuming & Grit
• Maintain your rug with regular vacuuming to prevent abrasive particles from embedding in the weave.
• Use a high-quality upright suction vacuum only; avoid rotating beater brushes to prevent fiber fraying.
• For a thorough refresh, vacuum both sides to extract deep-seated sand and dust.
• Use robotic vacuums with caution as they may catch on tassels or high-pile textures.
Immediate Spill Care
• Address spills instantly by blotting with a clean, colorfast cloth. Never scrub or rub the fibers.
• Place a weighted dry towel over the damp area for ten minutes to absorb residual moisture.
• Avoid harsh household detergents, which can be difficult to remove from organic materials.
• For oil-based stains or deep pigments, please consult a professional textile cleaner.
Timeless Resilience
• Gentle shedding and 'pop-ups' are hallmarks of handmade artistry. Simply trim any loose yarns flush with the pile.
• Rotate your rug 180 degrees every six months to promote even wear and balance sun exposure.
